Subject: Getting Started with Ads: Wistia

Hi there,

In a previous email, we discussed creating a video
using Animoto. Today, we’ll talk about Wistia.

You can “use our software and your videos to grow your
business,” according to the Wistia website.

There’s a free account but you get more with a paid
subscription, of course. The first thing you need is a
video.

Use Wistia’s Record feature to shoot with your
computer’s camera—no editing necessary.

You’ll need a script for your video. The more you think
about what you need to say in your ad, the more polished
it’s going to appear.

Pay attention to lighting, though. For under $100, you
can get a fairly decent DIY set-up that will make you
look like a pro. Or you can set up facing a bright window.

Be sure to stabilize your shot with a tripod or another
method of battling camera shake.

A shaky video is an unprofessional video. Another tip
is to keep from taking yourself so seriously when you’re
in front of the camera. If you loosen up more, you’ll
create a better video ad.

Once you finish your video, you can drag it directly
from your computer right into a Wistia Project.

If you used the Record feature, your video will
automatically show up within the Project as soon as
it’s finished.

Wistias Customize feature then allows you to control
the look and feel of your video.

First, choose an enticing thumbnail and make sure it’s
not blurry. You might even think about taking a specific
photo just to create a thumbnail.

Try to convey some sort of action and use an image with
overlaid text to better communicate the ad’s content.

You can match the color of Wistia’s player to your
brand’s color scheme. You can tweak your video, adding
autoplay or changing around the buttons your audience
can utilize.

Then, it’s time to share your video with the world
via YouTube.

In our next email, we’ll look at some YouTube advertising
best practices to help you get started.

Until then,
